Ashville College student announced as winner of the Harrogate Civic Centre artwork competition

We are delighted to announce the winner of the Harrogate Council Civic Centre artwork competition is Amy Noble, from Ashville College. After visiting each of the entrants in the competition along with the judging panel (Dave Morland of Farrell & Clark Architects, Andrew Mortimer of Harry Fairclough Construction, Alison Wilson, Harrogate Borough Council, Councillor Nick Brown the former Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate and Karen Southworth of the Mercer Gallery), Sixth Former Amy was chosen as the competition’s overall winner for her fantastic entry that so clearly met the brief.

Amy’s iconic design features three Yorkshire Rose collage pieces that reflect focal elements from the districts of Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon; from road maps to images of local landmarks, that were digitally printed onto wooden cut-outs shaped into the famous Yorkshire Rose shape.

After viewing the high level of art from other entrants, the judging panel has also decided to display a selection of the runners up entries within the finished building and we look forward to seeing all of the artwork by local students on display, when the building officially opens to the public later in the year.
